I wanted to offer 3 key art materials that I use when creating my miniature paintings. I remember finding it very difficult to source authentic traditional art material and then making sure that when they arrived that they were quality checked and only the best papers and brushes were selected for use. Understanding these difficulties I have put together an offer for specialist papers and brushes for those who can’t easily access authentic materials.
You can rest assured that you’re purchasing high quality materials because I test every single brush and check all the paper surfaces so make sure you have only the best to use.
If you’re looking to start working with premium traditional supplies and practice with a high-quality brush, this pack is perfect for you.
This art pack includes:
2 x A4 sheets of Indian wasli paper
1 x curved squirrel Indian miniature brush
Dry walnut ink (just add water to activate pigment)
1 x design pack (worth £8)

Wasli paper
Wasli papers are acid free hand made papers used for painting miniature on. Indian wasli paper is made of several sheets of paper glued together with a traditional glue made from flour. The preparation of the papers uses copper sulphate which makes the paper archival and deters paper eating insects.
The paper you will receive is ready to paint on. It comes burnished so it’s very smooth and as a result your brush will glide across the surface effortlessly, helping you paint the smallest of details. The paper is also pre-sized (‘sizing paper’ is a process used to seal the paper to prevent the paint from bleeding).
Curved Squirrel brush
These specialist hooked squirrel hair brushes come to a fantastic fine one hair thick point. You can create absolutely incredible levels of detail using this highly sought after Indian miniature brush. The curved tip allows you to create curves and spirals effortlessly. You will be able to build up layers of colour with the finest of lines, giving the painting a great sense of depth and finesse. Next time you see an Indian or Persian miniature, have a look at all the finer details, especially the painted hair and immaculate rendering. With this pack you will receive either a size 000 or 0000, both are equally great brushes for detail work.
Walnut Ink
This walnut ink is in the form of a dry pigment. To activate it, you need to take a pinch of walnut ink granules and add a few drops of water to it. The intensity of the pigment will vary depending on the amount of water added. Walnut ink was traditionally used to outline the shape of a preliminary design or drawing.
